The World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO<\/a>) decided, during its forty-fourth session, held virtually in China, to approve the addition of the city of As-Salt<\/a>, “the city of tolerance and civilized hospitality” to the World Heritage List.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Nayef Al-Fayez, said during his participation in the committee’s meetings virtually on Tuesday that the city of As-Salt in Jordan\u00a0is among the kingdom’s top priorities because of its importance in demonstrating the characteristics of tolerance, coexistence and social care among its residents.<\/span><\/p>\n

Al-Fayez agreg\u00f3 que Jordania y el Comit\u00e9 del Patrimonio Mundial (UNESCO) env\u00edan hoy un mensaje importante al mundo entero: un mensaje de paz, tolerancia y coexistencia en l\u00ednea con el discurso de Su Majestad el Rey Abdullah II en la Conferencia Internacional sobre Sociedades Cohesivas de 2019 en Singapur, en el que Su Majestad subray\u00f3 que \u201cel ataque a la armon\u00eda interreligiosa y la coexistencia pac\u00edfica es la amenaza m\u00e1s importante del mundo, que requiere que todos unamos fuerzas para resistir el odio y la exclusi\u00f3n\u201d.<\/p>\n

A la reuni\u00f3n del Comit\u00e9 del Patrimonio Mundial (UNESCO) para aprobar la inclusi\u00f3n de la ciudad de As-Salt en la Lista del Patrimonio Mundial asistieron el Secretario General del Ministerio de Turismo y Antig\u00fcedades, Dr. Imad Hijazin, el Director General de la Junta de Turismo de Jordania, el Dr. Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, el ex Ministro de Municipios Maher Abu Al-Samin y el ex Ministro del Interior Ghaleb Al-Zoubi, Director de la Oficina de Educaci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas (UNESCO) en Jordania Min Jong Kim, Presidente de la Junta de Comisionados de la Autoridad de Desarrollo y Turismo de Petra, el Dr. Suleiman Al-Farajat, el Director General de la Comisi\u00f3n del Sitio del Bautismo, el Ingeniero Rustom Mkhjian y representantes de los Ministerios de Relaciones Exteriores y Educaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n
